I’m PaintSplatters, and all my life, I’ve wanted nothing more than to help other ponies. So I guess that’s why I left my home for this quest. Maybe it was the legends my grandfather told me that drove me out searching the wastes for the Crystal Empire Ruins, He told me of a great power source that once kept a whole castle and surrounding city shining of pure crystal. Happy and peaceful ponies galloped about the shining streets under the watchful eye of the Crystal Princess. Day in and day out they basked in the warmth and love of the crystal heart, or so he said. However this was before the Great War consumed all of Equestria in spellfire. Because of this ponies live in ruins and poverty out in the wastes. I’m a lucky one, I live in friendship city, and here ponies live in a semblance of peace inside a giant metal statue called the Pony of Friendship. We may not be living like the ponies of New Pegasus, but we get by pretty well, and we’re safe from raiders. My mother came from a stable, she rarely spoke of it, but she did give me her pipbuck. She would get this look of melancholy when I asked, as if the memory of living there opened old wounds. All I know is something bad happened there and she was forced to leave. My father on the other hand is the son of a dashite, my grandfather. He and my father have lived in friendship city since I was little. I grew up with a strong sense of doing what is right, no matter what. That’s part of why I’ve always wanted to help everypony. My grandfather taught me how to use melee weapons when I was just a foal, letting me read spell books to enhance my magic of using them so I could protect myself and others. He could help only so much with the magic, being a Pegasus and all. I had to turn to my mother to help me learn the spells; soon I became much better than her and had to learn myself. I got by pretty well, then I learned more about stealth and more advanced melee spells. These new found spells helped me push myself to go find the ruins of the Crystal Empire, their whereabouts lost to the ministries. I wanted to go there in search of the Crystal Heart shards, which could hold enough magic in one sliver to purify water and power one town or village. So I was dead set on this, my parents who mourned over my leaving helped me gather supplies and gave me gifts to help me along.
“Here...” My mother sniffled as she floated me her pipbuck, “It will help you far more than I,”
My father looked at me with reserved sorrow, “Take these, we bought them for you,” He handed me a black leather jacket with red buttons and black pair of matching boots with red laces. I put the jacket on and wiggled the pipbuck onto my leg. It fit enough to stay with the leather jacket on, since the tools were long lost and the screws to hold it to the leg loosened. Slipping on the boots, I stomped my back legs a few times to get them on right.
“Thanks, I love you guys,” I said hugging them both and shedding a few tears along with them, “I’ll come back one day, and the wastes will be a far better place,” I murmured to them and they both smiled.
“I hope so. Oh, we got you one more thing” My mother said with a bit more of cheer in her voice, “A present from your late grandfather who wanted to give it to you on your18th birthday, but since you’re leaving on a dangerous mission now, I know he’d want you to have it,” she levitated me a red and silver super sledge. On its handle were the words PaintSplatters fury.
“Oh mom, it’s beautiful...” I breathed.
“He knew you would like it,” Chimed in my father.
“Thank you grandfather,” I murmured looking up, “I miss you,”
“We both love you, please come back, please,” pleaded my mother as she hugged me and slipped on my saddle bags.
“I love you,” said my father as he hugged me as well. He looked me in the eyes and I noticed he was crying, “I’m gonna miss my baby girl,”
I waved good bye one more time and headed out of our small apartment and down the stairs. Soon I was out looking up at the statue that had been my home my whole life, I was leaving it and could not help but feel a pang of sorrow. I made my way slowly across the bridge to the main land and once I touched the ground on the other side, I was off like a shot, running under the always clouded sky.
My new Fanfic, enjoy~!

Interesting so far. I'm just curious where in the timeline it's set and if I have to consider any other side stories as cannon since I've never heard of "New Pegasus"
